Retin-A (tretinoin) is a strong drug treatment of acne, and is derived from vitamin A. It is available in cream form or freeze on prescription and is also known as Retin-A Micro, Avita, Renova, and Tretinoin generic. It is used to treat all degrees acne, and has more effect on those with acne comedones (blackheads and whiteheads mostly). Its benefits have proved to go beyond the clearing of acne for people who have post-inflammatory pigmentation hyper-found that Retin-A reduces the appearance of spots dark discoloration left by acne. Adults who suffer from acne also benefit because it can reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

A very thin layer of Retin-A is applied once a day or once every two days, the evening before going in bed. Prior to that, you should have washed your face with a mild cleanser and waited about half an hour. The wait half an hour is supposed to ensure that skin is completely dry, because even if the slightest bit of moisture can cause irritation.

When applying, there are some areas should be avoided. Some side effects of Retin-A include dry skin, itching, peeling or flaking, redness and irritation of the skin in general. That means you're more likely to get sunburn or obtain damages the skin and you will be required to use a sunscreen.
